About this work

Half-length portrait of Johan Maurits, Count of Nassau-Siegen. He wears armor with a fur-lined cloak over it and leans with his left arm on a pillar. In his left hand he holds a letter with his titles. Around his neck a chain with a Maltese cross. In the background a battle scene is depicted. Below his portrait a plinth with his name and title in two lines in a cartouche.
