Sixteenth part (central map, upper middle section) of a print of the siege of the citadel Saint Martin on Île de Ré in 1627, executed by English troops under the command of the Duke of Buckingham and concluded by French troops under the command of Cardinal Richelieu. On this sheet the middle part of the island, with Saint Martin on the northern coast, surrounded by English siege works and ships, and south of that fights between English and French soldiers.
