About this work
Allegory on the marriage of Abraham Bruyn and Debora van Vollenhoven in 1718. The couple is led to the marriage god Hymen by putti. Above them floats the personification of the month of September with a key in one hand and a cornucopia filled with children in the other. The representation is framed in a border with the coats of arms of the spouses in the middle below. In the middle above the motto: Non Haec sine Numine Divum. Below this representation ships refer to their trade and on the beach putti shoot arrows.
