About this work
In the foreground the jailer of Philippi attempts suicide when he notices that the prison doors are open. He fears that the prisoners have escaped. The apostle Paul and his companion Silas, however, remain in the cell. Paul subsequently converts the jailer. In the background the condemnation of Paul and Silas. With a Latin inscription with a biblical passage from the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 23). The first print of a four-part series.
