About this work
The fourth article of faith: the belief in the death of Christ on the cross. The print shows the Virgin Mary and others weeping over the dead body of Christ, which has been taken down from the cross. In the background on the right Christ is laid in a tomb. The print has a Latin inscription with a Bible quote referring to the depicted Bible story and a Latin caption on the Apostles' Creed. The fourth print in a twelve-part series on the Creed.
