About this work

In a hilly landscape with a river, four water nymphs stand on the right in the foreground beside Myrrha, who has almost completely turned into a myrrh tree. Diana pulls Adonis from the tree, while another, fifth water nymph behind the tree prepares a basket. At the bottom, the episode in the story is explained in a four-line French text.
