About this work

Above a narrow frieze with animals sits a river god with his jug and a cornucopia. He sits with his feet in a stream in which fish and a dolphin swim. Between the reeds growing from his head lattice work is attached on which birds and other animals sit. On the left stands a seat of scrollwork in which a woman blows on a shell; on the right a seat with a man with a trident in his hand. Belongs to a series consisting of a title page, a text page and 14 sheets with grotesques with scrollwork, satyrs, garlands, trophies, animals and fantasy creatures.
