About this work
In a large niche on a plinth stands a sarcophagus on which a man lies deceased. The niche is framed by a garland of fruits, held up by two women with palm branches in their hands. On either side the garland ends in a vase resting on a herm with a lion's head. Belongs to a series consisting of a title page, a text page and 14 sheets with grotesques with scrollwork, satyrs, garlands, trophies, animals and fantasy creatures.
