About this work
Death of the watergeus Barthold Entes during the Siege of Groningen in 1580. The pro-Spanish garrison in the town, led by Rennenberg, stadtholder of Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe and Overijssel, defended itself against the States' besiegers, including Bartholt Entens and William Louis. Entes allegedly stormed the walls drunk with a barrel lid.
