Odysseus in the palace of Circe. On the right, Mercury offers Odysseus an herb that acts as an antidote to Circe's potion. Odysseus eats it and goes to Circe. There, Odysseus' men have been transformed into animals and pigs because they drank the potion. On the left in the foreground, Circe offers the potion to Odysseus. The drink has no effect on him, and he asks her to restore his men to their human form. Circe grants this request but asks Odysseus to sleep with her first. This takes place in the upper right corner.
