About this work
The evangelist Mark sits on a forest path and writes his gospel. He turns the pages of the book lying on the back of the lion beside him. In the landscape John the Baptist points two of his disciples to Christ, and further in the background the baptism in the Jordan. In the margin an inscription in Latin.
