About this work
The Crucifixion of Christ on Golgotha. Christ hangs on the cross. To his left and right are the two crucified thieves. A soldier attempts to make Christ drink from a sponge soaked in sour wine on a reed. In the left foreground, the soldiers cast lots for his garments. Letters stand next to various elements of the scene corresponding to the legend in the margin.
