About this work
Crucifixion of Christ with the soldier Longinus who thrusts his spear into Christ's side. Mary and John stand mourning under the cross; Mary Magdalene kneels at the feet of Christ pierced with nails. On either side of Christ hang the two thieves on crosses. In the margin below is a Latin biblical text from John 19.
