About this work

Under three trees in a landscape, Mary sits with Christ on her lap. Next to her sits Elizabeth, looking up at Mary, with her son John the Baptist before her. John points to Christ and holds a scroll with part of the text "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world" in Latin. Joseph sits behind the women, leaning against the tree. At the bottom of the margin, a four-line text in Latin.
