About this work

An Italian usurer prays to Mary with a rosary. In the background, he receives a vision shortly before his death. He sees the Archangel Michael with a scale. Mary places her rosary in it, while devils on the other side weigh the usurer's bad deeds in the balance. By adding the rosary, his virtues weigh heavier than his sins. The print has a Latin inscription with legend and is part of a fifteen-part series on the miracles of the rosary.
