The Muse Thalia, carrying a stack of books, is driven away by Painting, depicted as a woman holding a palette and brushes in one hand and a painter's staff in the other. Beside Painting a sculpted torso. The Hercules Farnese stands before a painting. On the right wall the portrait of a painter. The floor is strewn with early 18th-century editions of plays.
