About this work
Christ, with his eyes raised to heaven, dies on the cross. Above his head hangs a paper with an inscription: 'Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews' in Hebrew, Greek and Latin. On the left an angel fights Death and on the right an angel fights Sin. At the bottom a view of Jerusalem. In the margin a two-line Bible quote from Luke 23 in Latin.
