Victory of Charles V over the French during the Battle of Pavia (Ticinum) and the capture of the French King Francis I, February 24, 1525. Cavalry battle, with three allegorical female figures watching in the background. Scene left on the front of the triumphal arch Arcus Caroli on the Vrijdagmarkt. Plate no. 22 in a set of 42 plates illustrating the publication describing the entry of Cardinal Infant Ferdinand of Austria into Ghent on January 28, 1635, as the new Governor-General of the Spanish Netherlands.
