About this work

Mary stands next to the Christ Child in the stable; behind her stands Joseph. The shepherds and their wives gather around them in adoration. Their shadows are cast on the wall of the stable. On the right in the foreground, the ox and the donkey. In the margin, a two-line inscription in Latin.
