About this work

On the left a king sits on a throne whose foolishness is shown by his donkey ears. His advisors are Slander, Deceit, Envy and Wrath. Behind the throne stands Minerva to stop him. On the right an artist who would be condemned by the king under false pretenses. He is accompanied by naked Truth and the god Mercury.
