About this work

The female personification of Charity (Caritas) stands with two small children by the hand in the midst of the works of mercy. Around her, the hungry are fed, the thirsty are given drink, the naked are clothed, prisoners are visited, guests are received, the sick are cared for, and the dead are buried. Below the image, a two-line text in Latin.
