About this work
A young violinist stands with violin and bow raised in his hands in a room and looks at the leg of a young lady who is lifting her skirt. A second lady sits on her knees and points to the exposed lower leg. To the right in an armchair an older gentleman watches. On the table to the rear right lies a cloth, a helmet, and several books. On one of the books the title Castor en Pollux. In the front left a cello leans against a stool. On the back wall a painting in an oval frame depicting a sleeping, half-naked woman. On the ceiling a chandelier.
