Geometry

Geometry is depicted on a construction site, bent over a globe. She tries to measure the world with a compass. The personification of geometry wears a city crown. At the base of the globe a snake and a frog are visible: symbols for the creativity required of structural geometry. Geometric instruments such as ruler, measuring stick and spirit level lie scattered on the ground. The print has a Latin inscription about geometry and is part of a seven-part series on the seven liberal arts.
