About this work

Christ, mocked by soldiers, is led before the high priest Caiaphas. Caiaphas stands on the left on a raised platform before a throne and tears his garment. In the center, the fire in the courtyard where Peter, on the right, denies knowing Christ to a woman. Below the image, the title in Latin, four four-line verses in Dutch, and a reference to the biblical text in Matthew 26:57.
