About this work

Theater gate erected on the Dam before the Beurssteeg. At the top the coat of arms with the eagle of the Roman-German kingdom, at the corners the coats of arms of England and Hainaut, referring to the historical ties between England and the Netherlands. Stage for the performances during the visit of English Queen Henrietta Maria to Amsterdam, 20-22 May 1642. Eighth plate in a group of ten performances and triumphal arches.
