About this work
The funeral of Peace, 1665. Satirical print on the opponents of the Republic at the beginning of the Second Anglo-Dutch War. Peace is laid to earth by Folly, while Mars, Charles II, Bishop Barend, and the Herald with the testament of Peace follow the corpse. At the top is the pilgrimage to St. Frederick, next to which runs the bishop's pig. Below the image, three columns of text with three satirical verses.
