About this work
Sheet with at the top a portrait of Johan van Oldenbarnevelt, to the left. Below it two columns with three verses on the image of Van Oldenbarnevelt. The verse on the left praises the Advocate; the two verses on the right are related in wording to the left, but have the opposite content. Below the verses stand the names of the twenty-four judges who sentenced him to death, February 1619. At some of these names names of animals are written by hand. Thus the first judge, Henrick van Effen, is indicated as 'den Olyfant'. At the bottom of the sheet stand two echoes, on the left in Dutch, on the right in Latin.
