In a coastal landscape with palms stands an altar on a dais, upon which a column with the inscription 'Alliance with France' and a cartouche with thirteen stars, around which several men are swearing an oath. In the foreground two men embracing each other. Refers to an alliance of France with another unknown country (the United States?), ca. 1792.
