About this work

The envoys of King Henry IV of France at the Pope, 23 September 1595. Bishop of Peron and Mr. Ossal kneel and kiss the Pope's feet. At this conversion to Catholicism, Pope Clement VIII absolves the French king from excommunication. On the left, the arrival of the envoys in St. Peter's, in the background the Castel Sant'Angelo. With an inscription of 16 lines in German. Unnumbered.
