About this work

Siege and bombardment of Steenwijk by the States' army under Prince Maurice and the surrender of the Spanish garrison, 4 July 1592. To the right of the center, the raised earthen rampart with a wooden tower, a so-called cat, from which the town is bombarded. At two places, an explosion occurs beneath the town wall. In the upper left, the Spanish troops leave the town. With a caption of 12 lines in German and 3 lines in French. Numbered 288 in the lower left. The print is part of an album.
