About this work

Cardinal-Infant Ferdinand as Mars, standing on a city wall. In his right hand he holds a baton of command. Victory crowns him with a laurel wreath. Left various angels with empty shields. In the foreground defeated enemies and three river gods. In the frame on the city wall is the title. Title print for a series of 42 illustrating the publication of the description of the entry of Cardinal-Infant Ferdinand of Austria in Ghent on 28 January 1635 as the new governor for the Spanish Netherlands.
