About this work

Spectacle with Neptune (Philip IV) standing in his chariot drawn by sea horses. Stage set up on a square in Ghent. In the background the stage with the giant fish, houses and masts with burning tar barrels. In the margin an inscription in Latin. Thirty-fifth print from a series of 42 illustrating the publication of the description of the entry of Cardinal-Infant Ferdinand of Austria in Ghent on 28 January 1635 as the new governor for the Spanish Netherlands.
