About this work
Sack of Mechelen by the army of Alva, under command of his son Don Frederik, 1 October 1572. Goods are loaded onto pack animals and into a boat at the quay. Spanish soldiers fire on an inn and shoot from the bridge at the city. In the foreground, a mother is stabbed. Printed on the back with Dutch text.
