About this work
Allegory on the events of 1689 with Stadtholder-King William III and Queen Mary on the throne. Left half of two sheets that together form one image. Before William and Mary stands the Duke of Schomberg with two kneeling conquered Irish generals to whom the king and queen grant clemency. In the front left, three captured personifications of Treason, Rebellion, and Desertion. On the right, half of a pyramid with the events of the first six months. At the top, James II falls from the pyramid. Some elements in the image are marked with numbers.
