Smoking Beggars

In front of an inn named D'Laserusclep a group of scolding (brassing) beggars sit around a table, among them a musician with a hurdy-gurdy, a woman with a child at the breast, a courting couple, a vomiting man and a man with a wooden leg. On the left a round dance. From the house 'the broom is thrown out', indicating that it is a dubious establishment. Under the inn sign a man and woman, of whom the man holds a lazarusklep in his hand. Also on the two hanging signs a lazarusklep is depicted. In the background a woman and a man with one leg, "honest beggars", walk past the inn. They walk instead in the direction of a church. Under the print on both sides of the title each four verse lines in Dutch.
