About this work

The failed attack on Antwerp carried out by a States fleet under the command of Count Ernst Casimir of Nassau, 17 May 1605. The States fleet on the Scheldt is fired upon from the forts and positions along the banks. At the city lies a ship bridge over the river. Top left, heavy fighting at the Blokkersdijk. In the foreground, Antwerp residents watch the fighting. Attached under the print is a text sheet (slightly cut off) with 4 columns of text in French, left the legend 1-27, right a description of the events.
