About this work
The Winter King Frederick of the Palatinate with his wife (with mask and muff) on the ice in The Hague, possibly on the Paviljoensgracht, winter 1621. The young woman and the two boys are probably not the daughter and sons, but members of his retinue. In the background the village with ice entertainment.
