About this work

Large representation in six sheets of the siege of the city of Breda in the years 1624 and 1625 by the Spaniards under the command of Ambrogio Spinola. Centrally a plan of the besieged city, surrounded by siege works and camps. In the middle ground, directly below Breda, a tent camp. In the middle ground and foreground to the right the Spanish army on the move. In the foreground left and center a village being plundered by soldiers. At the very front left some soldiers and engineers. At the very front right commander Spinola on horseback and the carriages with Isabella Clara Eugenia. Upper left the coat of arms of King Philip IV of Spain. Upper right the coat of arms of Isabella Clara Eugenia, Governor of the Netherlands. Center bottom the coat of arms of Ambrogio Spinola. Around the representation an ornamental border.
