View of the Athenaeum Illustre, the predecessor of the University of Amsterdam, on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal in Amsterdam. This educational institution was founded in 1631 and housed in the Agnietenkapel. On the street: some pedestrians, a carriage, and, in front of the gate of the Athenaeum Illustre, working carpenters.
