About this work

Large print of the siege of the Huguenot stronghold La Rochelle in the years 1627 and 1628, executed by order of the French king by the French army under the command of Cardinal Richelieu. Central map, lower middle part. This sheet shows a part of the area around La Rochelle, populated by many small figures. The siege works surrounding the city (redoubts, fortifications, ramparts, the dike at the entrance to the harbor) are clearly recognizable. In the foreground, middle ground, and background, many ships off the coast. A separate plate below the image contains the legend 31-69 in five columns in French.
