About this work
The capture of Arras (Atrecht) by the French from the Spaniards, 13 July – 10 August 1640. The opposing parties depicted as animals: the Spaniards as cats and the French as rats. On the right a captured cat is disarmed by the rats. In the background the profile of the city and cats being hanged on a gallows by the mice. In the inscription 4 verses of 4 lines in French.
