About this work

The Battle of Hickelsmey (near Kempen), 17 January 1642. A battle in which the Weimar and French troops under Jean Baptiste Budes de Guébriant defeated the Imperial Hessian troops under Guillaume de Lamboy. The battle took place in Germany near Krefeld, Willich, and Kempen. Above, a bird's-eye view of the battlefield; below, the battle orders of both armies. Printed on the reverse with text in Latin and French.
