Murder of Isaäc Dorislaer, 1649

The print and poem of the murder of Isaäc Dorislaer by a group of masked men in The Hague on 12 May 1649, combined on a sheet with the announcement of a reward of one thousand guilders for the identification of the murderers of Isaäc Doreslaer. Dorislaer had been sent by Cromwell from England to the Republic as an envoy. On both sides of the print, contemporary handwriting notes that the table companion, the Lord of Valkenstein, was also wounded in the attack and died of his injuries on 30 May. The poem is printed in two columns and signed: Elck sijn tijdt.
