About this work
The interest of the world. Satire on the legal profession spinning yarn while arguing the case of man, 1687. Allegory in which a priest accompanied by Obedience and Truth, and a farmer accompanied by the goddess of the earth, plead their case before a lawyer seated behind his table, accompanied by Time. Between the parties stands the soldier with Fortune and Fame. In the caption, verses belonging to the main characters numbered I-X in Dutch and French.
