About this work

Plan of the fortifications around the Flemish city of Lille (Rijssel). Part of the first of two volumes of the print work: Le Theatre de la Guerre, dans les Pays-Bas, the title page of which was published in 1696. The print work consists in total (both parts) of 52 plates with plans (by Sébastien Le Prestre, Seigneur de Vauban) of famous fortified cities and strongholds in the Nine Years' War in the Netherlands. Variant (copy?) of the plate appearing in: Les forces de l'Europe, published between 1693-1697. Title and inscriptions in French.
