About this work

New Year's print by the Amsterdam newspaper distributor Jansje Govers for the year 1788, dedicated to the citizens of Amsterdam. At the top a small vignette with portraits of Prince William V with his wife and on the sheet a verse in two columns decorated with borders and four small scenes with city views in the corners. At the bottom in five columns an overview of the most important events of the past year.
