About this work

New Year's print of the tower watchman (city trumpeter) of Leiden, Cornelis van Ark, for the year 1785. Dedicated to the administration and citizens of Leiden. Leiden Town Hall with the tower watchman blowing from the tower: "For the Lord and for Gideon." Below the image on the sheet, a poem in two columns.
