About this work

The Dutch schooner Dolphijn, under the command of Lieutenant Tobias Tak Cuperus, intercepts the Austrian imperial brig Louis, which was attempting to sail up the Scheldt, 8 October 1784. The Dutch ship fires a warning shot. The incidents of that day are referred to by the nickname the Kettle War.
