About this work

The Amsterdam mayor Hendrik Danielsz. Hooft speaks in the Burgerzaal of the Town Hall to the assembled citizens and assures them that he will defend the interests of the city and the fatherland, 26 February 1787. In the margin the titles in French and Dutch on both sides of Hooft's coat of arms.
