About this work

Allegory on the restoration of Stadtholder Willem V in 1787. A triumphal column with the portraits of William of Orange, Frederick Henry and William III, and above them now the portrait of Willem V is hung. At the top of the column, Fame blows the trumpet. At the foot of the column, Truth has removed the blindfold from the eyes of the Republic, further Liberty, Wilhelmina of Prussia as Minerva and Father Time. On the left, the Dutch Lion tears apart Discord. In the inscription the arms of Orange and Prussia. The print is accompanied by an explanation.
